Position Summary

The Assistant Director will work closely with the Director to lead daily operations, implement program standards required by the Quality Rating framework, coach and mentor teaching staff, and ensure compliance with licensing and accreditation requirements. • Coordinate and document staff training, ensuring required credentials (CPR/First Aid, mandated reporter, SIDS, etc.) are current.
  • Maintain and organize evidence and files for Quality Rated and licensing reviews (lesson plans, assessment data, staff qualifications, health & safety logs).
  • Oversee curriculum fidelity and alignment with state early learning standards; support inclusive, developmentally appropriate practices.
  • Ensure health, safety, and sanitation protocols are followed (including supervising cleaning schedules, injury/incident reporting, and supply management).
  • Manage class schedules, substitute coverage, and staff assignments to maintain appropriate ratios.
  • Support enrollment management, intake processes, and family communication/partnerships.
  • Participate in budget tracking and resource allocation as directed by the Director.
  • Assist with program evaluation and data-driven decision making (child outcomes, family feedback, staff performance metrics).
  • Respond to emergencies and follow up on incident reports; maintain compliance with licensing regulations.
  • Represent the program at community meetings and Quality Rated/QRIS related trainings when needed.

Working Conditions

  • This role is active and may involve lifting, bending, sitting on the floor, and supervising outdoor play.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education (or related field) required
  • Minimum 2 years of childcare leadership or supervisory experience
  • Knowledge of Georgia’s  Quality Rated system strongly preferred
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Must meet all state licensing requirements (background check, training, etc.)

Nice To Haves

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Experience with classroom observation tools (e.g., CLASS, ECERS) and using observation results to support teacher growth.
  • Familiarity with state early learning standards and child assessment systems.
  • Experience developing or implementing program improvement plans.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English or other) a plus.
  • Experience supervising infant/toddler rooms and knowledge of age-specific health and safety needs.

Benefits

  • Competitive pay (based on experience and education)
  • Paid holidays and PTO
  • Ongoing professional development
  • Supportive team environment
  • Opportunity to grow with a highly respected Quality Rated center
