Welcome to the role of Chief Engineer ! As the leader of the engineering team, you will be responsible for the implementation, and maintenance of the mechanical systems in our hotel. You will be the main point of contact for all engineering and maintenance related issues and will be responsible for creating and managing a team of engineers to ensure that all systems are running safely and efficiently. You will be expected to develop and implement preventative maintenance plans and ensure that all hotel safety codes and regulations are met. You will also be responsible for developing and managing the budget for the engineering department. Job Responsibilities

  • Supervise and manage the engineering team to ensure that all maintenance activities and services are completed in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs for all equipment and systems in the hotel.
  • Monitor and oversee the maintenance of all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
  • Ensure that all safety and health regulations are adhered to in the engineering department.
  • Coordinate with vendors and outside contractors regarding the installation and repair of equipment and systems.
  • Develop and maintain a budget for the engineering department.
  • Inspect hotel premises on a regular basis to identify potential safety and maintenance issues.
  • Oversee the installation of new equipment and systems.
  • Manage inventory of engineering supplies and equipment.
  • Ensure that all engineering staff are properly trained and certified.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot any problems with the hotel systems and equipment.
  • Respond to guest concerns and complaints in a timely and professional manner.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, or similar field
  • 5+ years of professional experience in a hotel engineering role
  • Proven ability to effectively manage and motivate staff to ensure that all engineering work is completed in a timely and cost-effective manner
  • Knowledge of building systems, such as HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and life safety systems
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal codes and regulations related to hotel construction and maintenance
  • Experience with energy management systems and green practices
  • Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
