Harlem Children’s Zone (HCZ) — a world-renowned education and poverty-fighting organization based in New York — seeks a highly-driven, multi-talented Manager, Communications to build awareness and support for HCZ through compelling storytelling that centers our impact and the people we serve.
Reporting to the Associate Director, Communications, the Manager, Communications will help create and implement communications strategies to advance key priorities: drive awareness of HCZ — with a special focus on the work of our National Impact Team — scholar enrollment, talent recruitment, thought leadership, staff culture, and philanthropy. Working in collaboration with the Communications Department, and stakeholders across the organization, they will do this primarily through the creation of written storytelling highlighting our National Impact Team and their external partners, scholars, families, and community members; supporting our earned media efforts, including press coverage; developing and refining core messaging; and editing communications disseminated by the organization to our audiences. Some travel is required.
The Manager, Communications will join our Communications Team at the forefront of innovation at HCZ. The successful candidate will be a skilled communicator, writer, and editor with experience creating and implementing multi-channel communications strategies encompassing owned and earned media, crafting written content to engage diverse audiences, and managing a variety of communications platforms and projects.
The individual will join HCZ during a critical phase, as we work to scale our impact and put one million children across the country on the pathway to social and economic mobility.
