Job Description

Specific Responsibilities

The Compression Mechanic Sr is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of compression equipment used in various industries such as oil and gas, manufacturing, and transportation. They perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on compressors, pumps, engines, and related equipment. They also diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues, replace faulty parts, and ensure proper functioning and efficiency of the compression systems. The Compression Mechanic Sr may work independently or as part of a team, and they must adhere to safety protocols and maintain accurate maintenance records.

 

  • Daily Operation and Maintenance of compressors, Glycol dehydration unit, B-Tex unit, incinerator, slop tanks, sumps, transfer pumps, “control air” air compressors and all equipment associated with compressor.
  • Primary point of contact between field operations for their assigned area and the compressor rental/service companies.
  • Assist operating field personnel with troubleshooting of mechanical failure issues. Determine the cause of failure to identify ways to prevent future failures. This may include training of personnel relating to compressor performance, design, troubleshooting, failure analysis and environmental concerns.
  • Provide data on mechanical failures so trends or widespread problems can be identified early.
  • Support EH&S departments in ensuring compliance with Air Emissions permits.
  • Coordinate with operations staff to establish PM schedules.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:

 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 10+ years related experience
  • Associates Degree preferred.
  • Compressor mechanic certification preferred
  • General knowledge of safe oil and gas production operations.
  • Ability to perform simple mathematic calculations, good mechanical aptitude, good writing skills and have a good safety and driving record.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand, ideas presented through verbal and performance reports.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with PC based computer applications and be willing to be a team member.
  • Motivated self-starter capable of working independently and efficiently with little or no supervision.
  • Proven ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions.
  • Advanced knowledge of machines, materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction, operating or repair of compression units and Dehydrators.
