Job Description

Position: Process Control Engineer Job Code: MEPCP2 + Eng II, Process Control Location: Cottonton, AL The Opportunity: The IT/OT Controls Engineer will be an integral part of the Control Systems Support Group by designing, implementing, and supporting network and system solutions that ensure appropriate availability, performance, and recovery operations. This is an onsite position located at the Mahrt paper mill in Cottonton, AL. How you will impact Smurfit Westrock: * Design, install, configure, and support the process control networks. * Proactively check network and system performance and ensure maximum availability and reliability. * Maintain proper security of the network and connected systems. * Use packet capture tools to identify and resolve user or network communications issues. * Configure and support process control FortiGate and Cisco firewalls. * Configure, and install a range of switch equipment such as Cisco Nexus, Dell, and Emerson. * Administer Hyper-V and VMware environments. * Select and approve hardware and software designs for new process automation projects. * Monitor, Identify, and diagnose problems affecting network and system performance. * Coordinates network device software and hardware upgrades. * Install and configure Windows Server, Windows Roles and Features (IIS, SSL, AD, SFTP, DNS, Terminal (Remote) Services, and Group Policies. * Perform routine preventative maintenance on process control network and virtualized systems. * Develop written procedures, engineering drawings, and other technical documentation. * Review system and application logs and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups. * Install, verify, and troubleshoot new software releases and system upgrades, including the evaluation and installation of patches and firmware. What you need to succeed: * 4+ years of designing, implementing, and maintaining complex network infrastructures. * Mid-level Security and Network configuration and troubleshooting experience. * Mid-level Firewall configuration and troubleshooting experience. * Mid-level Virtualization configuration and troubleshooting experience. * Mid-Level troubleshooting of Windows OS within a virtualized environment and backend applications. * Aptitude and openness to learning the process control environment (Emerson DeltaV, Rockwell Technologies, and related systems). * Detail-oriented, with excellent written and verbal communication skills. * Ability to be flexible and manage change. * Must work well within a small team.
