Position: Senior Firewall Engineer Location: San Jose CA - Onsite Type of Hire - Contract Duration: 6 Months KEY DELIVERABLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Sound understanding of Networking and Network Security Technologies. Extensive Experience on Firewall, VPN Technologies Hands on experience on Firewalls (Palo Alto, Cisco ASA, Checkpoint and Fortinet) Detailed technical experience in the installation, configuration, and operation of high-end firewall appliances, ideally Palo Alto Networks products Strong understanding of core Internet protocols and applications. Experience of Cisco's Routers, Switches, AAA, TACACS Research, evaluate, develop, and implement security solutions and standards following industry best practices. Ensure that current and planned technical solutions are compatible with the company's business needs and strategic objectives. Operate the production environment security toolsets and services. Work with other teams to design, develop, and implement Enterprise Security solutions in support of development, test, and production environments. Provide technical security expertise and assistance to other IT and Business groups Performs security audits and testing and evaluates system security configurations to ensure efficacy and compliance with policies and procedures Support the information security operations team COMPETENCY SKILLS REQUIRED: Planning, organization, and time management skills Clear and concise technical and business communication, listening, speaking, and writing skills Strong troubleshooting, problem solving, and critical thinking skills Customer service skills QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED: ~ Bachelor's degree in science or engineering preferred or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. ~10-15 years of experience with security processes and solutions. ~ Strong understanding of current security threats, techniques, and landscape, as well as a dedicated and self-driven desire to research current and emerging threats in the information security landscape. ~ Deep knowledge in Firewalls /VPN Technologies. ~ Conceptual and practical understanding of IT Infrastructure designs, technologies, products, and services. This should include an understanding of Information Security concepts which apply to them. ~ Ability to work in a group setting and independently. ~ Experience with IT ticketing systems. ~ Good working knowledge in scripting language, Python, PowerShell, etc. ~ Experience with a Security Information Event Management ~ Strong understanding of Wireshark as well as Linux/UNIX and Windows based operating systems. ~ Knowledge of system log forensics (Syslog, Event Viewer) ~ Strong working knowledge of Network security concepts and technologies such as: ~ Experience in building and maintaining network security devices for WAN, LAN, VPN, & WIFI ~ Experience in Firewalls (Palo Alto, Cisco, Checkpoint) ~ Knowledge of network packet inspection and forensics ~ Knowledge of intrusion detection or prevention systems ~ Knowledge of TCP/IP, computer networking, routing and switching protocols ~ Knowledge of DNS, Internet policy enforcement, firewalls, Web content filtering PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS: Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) SANS GIAC certifications Palo Alto Networks Cisco ASA Checkpoint Tekshapers is an equal opportunity employer and will consider all applications without regard to race, sex, age, color, religion, national origin, veteran status, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, genetic information, or any characteristic protected by law.
