Job Description

COMPANY: The Tabby House Brewing Company

  
Duties & Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Executing the full brewing process from grain handling to wort production, and overseeing its completion, including fermentation, filtration, and packaging.
  • Clean brewing kettles, fermentation vessels and packaging equipment, including kegs.
  • Managing cellar tasks such as yeast pitching, dry-hopping, carbonation, and performing cleaning and sanitization (CIP) on tanks, lines, and other equipment.
  • Upholding quality standards, accurately tracking and recording metrics, and participating in sensory evaluations.
  • Understanding and practicing all internal safety standards.
  • Able to work alone or with others as schedules and staffing allow.
  • Assist the brewing team with brewing-related issues, projects.
  • Follow brewing procedures to help produce consistent finished beer of the highest quality.
  • Update management on equipment, and inventory status and needs.
  • Accurately completing all required documentation, checklists, and logs related to the production process. 
  • Record quality data as directed in a timely manner.
  • Able to work on a flexible schedule as production needs dictate.
  • Participate in brewery activities and events.
  • Be a promotional spokesman for the company. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Ability to work both independently and within a team, with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to be on feet all day and able to lift 55+ lbs regularly.
  • Comfortable working with chemicals and willingness to adhere to safety, environmental and brewhouse standards at all times.
  • Good troubleshooting skills, and strong mechanical/electrical aptitude.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Previous experience in a production brewery is often required, though homebrewing experience can also be a factor.
  • 1+ Year previous experience at a brewery as an assistant brewer, brewer, or cellarman is preferred but not required.
  • Degree or background in biology, chemistry or engineering is a bonus but not required.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
